What Is the Paleo Diet?

The paleo diet, also known as the Paleolithic diet, is a modern approach to nutrition that is based on the presumed dietary patterns of our ancestors during the Paleolithic era, which occurred approximately 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago. This diet is centered around consuming foods that our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have eaten, including lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, while avoiding processed foods, grains, dairy products, and added sugars. The paleo diet emphasizes whole, unprocessed foods, and encourages individuals to source their nutrients from natural sources rather than relying on highly processed and refined products. Others argue that the diet's emphasis on animal protein may contribute to environmental and ethical concerns associated with large-scale animal farming. In conclusion, the paleo diet is a nutritional approach that aims to imitate the eating patterns of our early ancestors.
